The mix of industry and nature makes the port and surroundings of Rotterdam a unique area. Nowhere else in the Netherlands does so much activity come together. Of course there are the impressive ships and impressive cranes. In addition, you will be surprised how much beautiful nature there is to find around Rotterdam. Look at the motorcycle routes for a nice route proposal.
Who thinks of the Netherlands, thinks of windmills. In the watery area around Dordrecht you will find the nineteen windmills of Kinderdijk. They were built around 1740 and are a symbol of Dutch water management. The mills at Kinderdijk have been declared a UNESCO world heritage site. Two mills have been set up as museums and can be visited.
In the middle of the bulb-growing region on the Dutch coast lies the most chic seaside resort in the Netherlands: Noordwijk. In the spring, Noordwijk is therefore dominated by blooming bulb fields, the annual Flower Parade and the world-famous Keukenhof. Noordwijk itself has a thirteen-kilometer long, clean beach and has a large number of wonderful beach pavilions where you can rest during your motorcycle ride.
For motorcyclists, one event in the province of Zuid-Holland that you should definitely not miss is.
The Red Bull Knock Out The Hague is the world's largest and toughest beach race. Every year in November, hundreds of motocross riders take on this battle of attrition on the beach at Scheveningen. On one weekend day, several races and the final take place. Make sure you are there!

Zuid-Holland is a fine province for a motorcycle ride. You'll be surprised how green and water-rich this province is, while historic cities like The Hague, Leiden and the impressive port city of Rotterdam are all worth a detour. Our three favorite routes:
The surroundings of Rotterdam offer a wonderful alternation between the hustle and bustle of the harbors and the tranquility of the polders. This route starts in Zoetermeer and via Gouda and Dordrecht you end up in the Rotterdam harbour area. Via Delft you will return to Zoetermeer after about 170 kilometers.

This route of over 170 kilometers starts at the Delta Hotel in Vlaardingen. Via the Erasmus Bridge you'll drive into the center of Rotterdam and then via the polders between the Maas and the Old Maas along the windmills of Kinderdijk. At Vianen you will briefly drive on the A2 and then enjoy the winding roads along the river Lek. The end point is along the Amstel River in 't Jagershuisjs.
If you are a fan of meadows, open water and historic villages along our major rivers, then this is an ideal route for you. This area is very green and is not for nothing known as the Green Heart or the Garden of the Randstad. You start in Woerden and via Oudewater, Gorinchem and the ferry at Schoonhoven, among other places, you end up in Amsterdam Zuidoost (yes, that's Noord-Holland!).
What could be better, at the end of a day of motorcycling, than to relax on a terrace. Enjoying a drink, watching and being watched and having a nice chat. The terrace is important for motorcyclists. Our favorite motorcycle terraces for South Holland are listed below
