The Lauwersmeer lies on the border of the provinces of Groningen and Friesland and was created in 1969 by closing off the Lauwers Sea. This motorcycle ride takes you along the Wadden Sea with several beautiful viewpoints over the mudflats. Your motorcycle tour starts and ends at hotel De Pyramide in Opende.

This route of over 150 kilometers starts in Drenthe and takes you via Noordlaren into the province of Groningen. Around the city of Groningen there are a surprising number of winding roads and north of the city you will make a stop at the seal sanctuary in Pieterburen.

With this route you'll pass the monastery of Ter Apel, the fortress Bourtange and the special town Bellingwolde, among others. This café is located on the Reitdiep, the waterway link between the city of Groningen and Zoutkamp. Egbert Hammingh Sr. had the building built in 1876. On the terrace you can enjoy views of grazing cattle on the dike and ships passing by on the Reitdiep.
