Rent one of these motorcycles directly from private owners in Arnhem, Nijmegen, Apeldoorn and many other places in Gelderland.
Gelderland is the largest province of our country and is perhaps the most beautiful destination for one or more days of motorcycling. In Gelderland you will discover the beautiful nature of the Veluwe, the historic cities of Arnhem and Nijmegen, the tranquility of the Achterhoek and the winding dike roads and river banks in Rivierenland. Gelderland is via the A1 and A12 easily accessible from the Randstad and once you leave the highway you drive with the motorcycle on the most beautiful roads in nature.
MotoShare, together with OHRA, ANWB and KNMV, makes it possible to rent a motorcycle from a private person in Gelderland. As a renter, you can choose from unique motorcycles from private owners who would like to introduce you to the beauty of their province and the character of their motorcycle.
Who thinks of Gelderland, immediately thinks of the Hoge Veluwe. This enormous nature reserve between Apeldoorn, Harderwijk and Arnhem is the largest and most popular nature reserve in our country. Dense forests are interspersed with sand drifts and cozy villages and everywhere are beautiful winding roads. But Gelderland has much more to offer motorcyclists. We put the highlights in the province of Gelderland for you in a row:
Medieval towns, endless forests in a hilly landscape. Restaurants serving the most delicious regional dishes, and unique events for young and old. Are you wondering which European country we are talking about? We are talking about the Achterhoek, the region in the far east of Gelderland, right on the German border. Here you can tour in peace and quiet along the most beautiful roads and stop frequently to marvel at the wonderful views (and the coziest cafés and restaurants!).
The Romans built their army camp before the birth of Christ at the site of today's Nijmegen, the oldest city in our country. The city lies on the River Waal and exudes a southern, Burgundian atmosphere. Stroll with your motorcycle along the banks of the Waal and park it for a drink at one of the many terraces in Nijmegen.
In the south of Gelderland lies Rivierenland, a characteristic region with orchards full of blossoms and fruit, picturesque dikes and charming villages. Here you can ride a motorcycle with a view of the Maas, the Waal or the Bommel. Or enjoy the mills, country houses and castles that you will encounter during your motorcycle tour.
The Black Cross in Lichtenvoorde, Gelderland, was organized for the first time in 1997. It was a cross competition in which anyone could participate. Today, the Black Cross is the biggest motocross event and the biggest music festival in the Netherlands. More than 200,000 visitors celebrate life here for three days in July. Not to be missed for motorcycle and music lovers from all over the country!

Gelderland is a fine province for a ride on the motorcycle. The province is centrally located in our country, so you can drive from almost anywhere in the Netherlands to the province for a day of motorcycling. Gelderland means space and lots of nature. National Park The Gelderland Ridge covers a large part of the province. We put a number of beautiful routes through the smallest province of our country in a row.
Our three favorite routes
The North Veluwe Route introduces you to the north of the Veluwe. In this beautiful area you will find a variety of forests, heathland and sand drifts. The route is plotted by the ANWB and recognizable by the brown, hexagonal signs. Along the way there are plenty of reasons to get off your bike. Apart from nature, there are other good reasons to get off the saddle, such as the think gardens of Paleis Het Loo, the Apenheul or Cannenburch Castle near Vaassen. Be sure to stop in the historic town of Elburg.
This route starts in the center of the Veluwe, in Ede. Via Wekerom, Kootwijk and Vierhouten, among others, you will get to know the most beautiful parts of the Veluwe. Typical of this route are the beautiful small and often winding roads. The end of the route is in Hoenderloo.
This route takes you on a motorcycle from the border lakes to Amersfoort. You start in the medieval fortified town of Elburg and make a loop via Kampen, Flevoland and Oldebroek back to the Veluwe. Via Ermelo, the greenest town in the Netherlands, you'll reach your destination in Amersfoort.
What could be better, at the end of a motorcycle day, than to relax on a terrace. Enjoying a drink, watching and being watched and chatting. The terrace is important for motorcyclists. Our favorite motorcycle terraces in Gelderland we put on a list.
Assel lies in the middle of the Veluwe and is a village with twelve houses. Once there was a train station in Assel. On the site of this station is now this cozy eatery with a terrace surrounded by greenery. Enjoy a cup of coffee or a nice lunch here.

Napoleon had the road from Amersfoort to Apeldoorn built to improve access to Palace 't Loo. A number of tollhouses were built, including tollhouse No. 11. This is now home to Buds restaurant with a lovely, partially covered terrace.
