In all of Europe, there is no area comparable to the Oostvaardersplassen. Located in the south of Flevoland, it is an area full of marshes, foxes, deer and dozens of bird species. Even the bald eagle breeds there. This is what our country must have looked like thousands of years ago. You will understand that you cannot explore the nature reserve by motorcycle, but it is certainly worthwhile visiting the Oostvaardersplassen Nature Center at Kitsweg 1 in Lelystad. Here you will learn all about the area and can also take a short walk from the center.

Certainly not suitable for all motorcyclists, but Bataviastad is a special shopping paradise with over a hundred outlet stores. Next to Bataviastad is the Bataviawerf. Here you'll find a replica of a Dutch East India Company ship and at the NISA there are shipwrecks that surfaced during the reclamation of Flevoland.

The former island of Schokland lies in the middle of the Noordoostpolder. Schokland is officially recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is an archaeological monument. You'll find traces of human habitation dating back more than 10,000 years.

Do you want to master your bike even better? Would you like to know what to do if you skid or discover whether you dare to take a corner with your knees close to the asphalt? At VVC-adventure in Lelystad they have a complete course and experienced instructors who can teach you the ropes. A motor-slide course of 1.5 hours teaches you how to brake on slippery road surfaces, including an emergency stop.

By following the Nieuwlandroute you will get to know the south of the province of Flevoland particularly well. The route will take you past the Oostvaardersplassen nature reserve on your motorcycle and you will discover polder woods and vast meadows. You ride along beautiful dyke roads and especially in May, when the rapeseed blooms, this route is very special.

This route of about 130 kilometers starts in the Petuniastraat in Almere and takes you south. Via Zeewolde you follow the shores of the Veluwemeer for a while and then you ride via Biddinghuizen, Dronten and Swifterband to Lelystad. From Lelystad you drive through a special landscape with small dike roads and vast fields back to Almere.

This route of 227 km leads you from Lelystad straight through Flevoland to the old Hanseatic towns of Kampen, Zwolle and Deventer. You ride back north through the Veluwe to return to the province of Flevoland via Apeldoorn and Harderwijk. Via Biddinghuizen you return to Lelystad.

This restaurant is located on one of the most beautiful spots along the Veluwe near the village of Biddinghuizen. There are two terraces, one of which floats on the Veluwemeer. You can enjoy delicious snacks and drinks and a fantastic view on the lounge sofas.
