Suzuki has a wide range of motorcycle models with distinctive innovative techniques, class-leading performance and superior riding characteristics. Suzuki's motorcycles consistently excel in tests conducted by international motorcycle journalists.
Michio Suzuki a successful businessman at the beginning of the 20th century in Japan. In 1920, he decided to invest in building motorcycles and founded the Suzuki Motor Company. It wasn't until the 1950s - after Suzuki's Diamond Free model won a race on Mount Fuji - that sales in Japan began to take off. In 1962, Suzuki won the world championship. The following year, Suzuki sales began worldwide and the familiar S became the brand's logo.
In the 1960s and 1970s, Suzuki was the brand that won the world championship several times. Derivatives of racing models were successfully marketed. The GT750 was a real sales hit. This 2-cylinder could reach a top speed of 177 km per hour and went to 100 km per hour in 5 seconds. Suzuki always kept innovating and came up with new sporty looking models that also proved to be very reliable and maintenance friendly.
Today, Suzuki is among the top 4 motorcycle manufacturers in the world. The brand offers a wide range of touring, street, adventure, off road and supersport motorcycles.
Suzuki is the brand where every motorcyclist will find a bike that suits him or her exactly. Enjoy the excellent handling of, for example, the GSX series. Enthusiasts praise the cornering behavior of these naked bikes. Or choose to rent a V-Strom. On this all-round motorcycle you will feel at home remarkably quickly, even on unpaved roads. Suzuki is also the brand that introduced two iconic motorcycles to the market last year that stand out for their form and performance: the Katana and the Hayabusa.
In 1980, a German design firm designed the Katana for Suzuki. The aggressive look of the bike was created by the large, almost sculpted gas tank. This made the rider sit more ''in'' than ''on'' the Katana. The name refers to a samurai sword. Thanks to its four-cylinder engine with 4 valves per cylinder, the Katana was also the fastest motorcycle in the world in those years. In 2019, Suzuki will once again bring a Katana to the market. This motorcycle, based on the GSX-S100F is a tribute to the successful Katana models of the 1980s and 1990s.
Since 1999, the Suzuki Hayabusa, with its powerful engine and unique streamline, has been the fastest production motorcycle ever built. Hayabusa is Japanese for peregrine falcon, the natural enemy of the blackbird. Now let blackbird also be the name of the Honda CBR1100XX. In 1996, with a top speed of 285 km/h, it was the fastest production motorcycle. In 1999, the Hayabusa had a top speed of over 300 km/h... In the year 2000, motorcycle manufacturers decided - after criticism from European governments about the ever-increasing top speeds - to collectively limit their motorcycles to 300 km/h. With that, the Hayabusa has held the record for more than 20 years....
