History of Aprilia motorcycles

The Italian Aprilia was born as a brand in 1968. Ivano Beggio, the son of Italian bike builder Alberto Beggio starts producing light motorcycles for motocross in that year. In the 1970s, Aprilia starts producing road racing motorcycles and manages to be surprisingly successful against the domination of the Japanese brands.

In the 1980s, Aprilia presents the first motorcycle for public roads; the ST125. Sales success came in 1990 with the introduction of the Pegaso 600. In the 1990s Aprilia also started producing scooters, with which they achieved good sales figures especially in the home market of Italy. In 1998, the first version of the RSV Mille was launched. The RSV superbike with V-twin is still Aprilia's flagship.

Aprilia took over Moto Guzzi and Laverda in 2000. After this, money problems arose and in 2004 and the brand ended up in crisis. Changes were necessary and at the end of 2004 the company was acquired by the Paggio group.

Aprilia has been extremely successful on the racetrack for the past several decades. The brand has achieved more than 300 GP victories in motorcycle road racing. Aprilia is also doing well in the offroad disciplines with multiple world titles in the Trial and Supermotard classes.

Why ride Aprilia?

Aprilia is known for its refined technology and beautiful Italian design. It is truly a brand for enthusiasts who like to ride around on an exclusive motorcycle with excellent performance.

Models by Aprilia

Caponord

As a serious motorcycle brand, Aprilia decided back in 2001 to market a large all-road motorcycle, following in the footsteps of the BMW GS, KTM Adventure, Triumph Tiger, Ducati Multistrada and Yamaha Super Ténéré. The Caponord 1200 has a lot of electronics on board but also proves to be delightful to ride. The engine runs smoothly and with 125 hp, the bike delivers fine performance.

Pegaso

Pegasus was the winged horse of mythology. The Pegaso may be a little less mythical than the winged horse Pegasus, but it is a wonderful motorcycle for beginning riders. With its wide handlebars, comfortable saddle and smooth-running engine, the Aprilia Pegaso is a wonderful ride.

RSV Mille

Are you an experienced motorcyclist and do you want a day of tight steering? Then hire the iconic RSV Mille. You don't rent an RSV for the comfortable seating position, the possibilities to carry a lot of luggage or to cruise quietly. With the Aprilia RSV Mille you want to go flat out through the corner and get away from the traffic lights quickly.
